“Chicanitas” Art Exhibit
Students who participated in an eight-week-long After School Arts Program residency at Micheltorena Elementary took a field trip to the Vincent Price Art Museum, located on the campus of East Los Angeles College, to visit the ‘Chicanitas: Small Paintings from the Cheech Marin Collection’ exhibit. On a private tour of the exhibit, students were free to explore and learn about different styles of art.
Cheech Marin, an entertainer who is well known for his work in movies, television, and improvisational comedy, generously allowed the Price Museum to showcase his collection of art, which he has acquired for over 20 years. Marin’s collection is one of the largest and most renowned private collections of Chicano art in the United States. Chicanitas showcased over 70 paintings by 29 artists.
